Hubert travelling band screen
Efficient and robust travelling screens for large-scale water intake.
The Hubert travelling band screen is an efficient and robust fine screening system for large-scale water intakes. This vertically arranged band screen is specially designed for applications with high flow rates and limited installation space, such as power plants, desalination facilities and industrial cooling systems.
With a capacity of up to 15,000 m³/hour per screen, it provides maximum performance with a minimal footprint. The system is resistant to abrasive particles and large water-level variations, and offers a service life of 30 years or more.
Features
The travelling band screen operates on the conveyor‑belt principle, using fine‑mesh sieve panels with openings from 2 to 10 mm. These panels are mounted between two robust conveyor chains. As they move upward, the water is effectively screened and solids are retained.
Removed debris is automatically cleaned at the top of the system using spray water and discharged through a flushing channel. All functional components, including the drive unit, cleaning system and discharge, are located above water level at deck height and protected by a metal or composite cover. This design ensures safe and easy maintenance.
The vertical configuration makes the screen ideal for locations with limited space or large water‑level differences. The screen is resistant to abrasive particles and aggressive seawater, and can be manufactured from various high‑quality materials, including coated steel, duplex and super‑duplex. Typical configurations include recessed installation or mounting on a skid.
Hubert travelling band screens are available for different flow patterns and can operate under large tidal variations. A fish‑return system can be added to gently and effectively remove fish from the screen.
