
Advanced filtration system for seawater
For BAPCO's Bahrain refinery, Hubert realised an advanced inlet filtration system for seawater from the Persian Gulf. The design fully complies with stringent operational and environmental conditions. The system not only removes seaweed and debris, but also effectively blocks mussels and jellyfish from the incoming seawater.
This combination of coarse and fine filtration plus low-maintenance dry-setting capabilities ensures a stable, reliable supply of clean seawater to downstream processes within the refinery, which is crucial for continuity of production

What we delivered
For this project, Hubert supplied the sheet pile walls, grate cleaners and belt filters.
At the water intake, the water is first coarsely filtered by a fully automatic grate cleaner to stop coarse dirt. The water then flows through belt filters for finer filtration (dual flow). Debris is removed and discharged above deck with nozzles.
Upstream and downstream sheet pile walls are provided to allow the canals to be drained for inspection and maintenance.
