Hubert Case Study Jgc Gulf Bapco3

Advanced filtration system for seawater

For BAPCO's Bahrain refinery, Hubert realised an advanced inlet filtration system for seawater from the Persian Gulf. The design fully complies with stringent operational and environmental conditions. The system not only removes seaweed and debris, but also effectively blocks mussels and jellyfish from the incoming seawater.

This combination of coarse and fine filtration, together with maintenance-friendly provisions for dewatering the intake channels, ensures a stable and reliable supply of clean seawater to downstream processes within the refinery, which is crucial for continuity of production.

What we delivered

For this project, Hubert supplied the stop logs, coarse screens and travelling band screens.

At the water intake, the water is first filtered by a fully automatic coarse screen, for removal of debris. The water then flows through travelling band screens for finer filtration (dual flow). Debris is removed and discharged above deck with nozzles.

Upstream and downstream stop logs are provided to allow the intake channels to be drained for inspection and maintenance.
