Project introduction
Hubert had been awarded the contract to overhaul a water intake screen for Pernis refinery, the largest refining site in Europe and one of the largest worldwide. Screening drums are part of the (brackish) water intake filtration system. It was a complex project from the removal of the complete screen, renovation under controlled conditions, to reassembly on site.
Hubert Supply
This overhaul project included the refurbishment and reassembling of the screening drum, which is designed to remove all unwanted parts of the feed water used for cooling. The screen originally supplied by Brackett Green, was completely removed from the civil construction and then transported to Hubert’s workshop for an extensive renovation.
The drum screen has a diameter of approx 10 m and a width of approx 4 m, ensuring the fine filtration of water upstream of the intake pumps that feed the cooling circuit.
The renewed screen, designed for a lifetime of 20 years, was reassembled into the system of the plant, tested and then put into continuous operation again. The leadtime of this project was less than 1.5 years.
Hubert also renovated traveling band screens for the same client
